Phil’s Editing

Special Report Editing

This video is the special open to a series on issues impacting the educational crisis in Oklahoma.  Phil produced the special with the assistance of two other reporters.  The open, bumps and both of Phil’s stories in the special program were edited by Phil.

Earthquake Investigation

Oklahoma was shaking, but it seemed no one knew what was causing all the earthquakes.  Fox 25 hosted a town hall to explore the topic in-depth and get answers the community was asking.  In addition to his in-depth reporting on the topic for stories leading up to the Town Hall, Phil also produced and edited the open to the show and served as the online/social media moderator of the program.

Tornado Town Hall

A massive tornado devastated Moore, Oklahoma and other areas in May of 2013.  Fox 25 hosted a town hall for those impacted by the storm and put those who had questions about the response to the storm and the recovery together with the people responsible for leading the state’s response to the storm’s aftermath.  Phil produced the open to the show as well as serving as the online/social media moderator for the Town Hall.

Story Editing

As part of an in-depth investigation into public education issues in Oklahoma, Phil went to learn how small schools were surviving. Phil edited this story and it would also be included in a half-hour special report.

Story Editing

“How did you figure this out,” a school official asked Phil after an interview.  The official said in his decades doing public education media relations he had seen every possible investigative story, but this was something new.

This story was a challenge to edit due to the fact most of the video was limited to undercover recordings.
